This lovely Old Plaster figure of
Jesus arrived broken in two and with various chips and pieces broken
off or missing, including part of his fingers and hair.
It had also been previously glued together with superglue most of
which was hand picked off with a scalpel before repairs could begin.

The inside of the two plaster
pieces were stabilized with Paraloid B72, and at the clients request
a hole was carefully drilled in each half, in order to glue a
hardened putty rod in the middle to provide extra support, as the
piece was quite heavy.
The missing chips and bare powder areas were also stabilized prior
to any modelling or filling being done.

The two main pieces were
then taped together and re glued using a specialist two part epoxy
called Fynebond, all smaller pieces were glued back in place again
with Fynebond.
Once set, the cracks were colour filled with the same epoxy which
was tinted with coloured powder pigments to match to minimise the
over painting required.
The repairs were painted with
Cold Glaze with dry powder pigments to colour.
Finally the repairs were glazed over with Cold Glaze.
