This stunning Hand painted Sevres
Vase arrived with damage to three parts.
On the main body section there were two large cracks, open and
running across the hand painted part. On the front the crack ran the
entire length of the painting beginning at the top of the rim, on
the back it ran down roughly half way from the top rim.
The neck section had been previously restored with the whole piece
completely re painted with a Blue that did not match the rest of the
pieces, under the old repairs the piece had been broken into several
sections and sadly the glaze inside had been badly scratched, where
the person who repaired it had use a very abrasive method of
smoothing down.
The lid section was broken into 4 main pieces. Both the neck and lid
also had numerous chips and flakes missing.

On the large Body section, the
long hairline crack was carefully cleaned and stabilized with
Fynebond epoxy. This was colour filled, again with Fynebond and then
hand painted and airbrushed, inside and out with Rustins China Glaze
and Dry Powder pigments.
Lastly the damaged gilding was painted back in.
The neck section had to have all the previous glaze removed before
any cleaning could begin, this was then dismantled, cleaned and re
glued using Fynebond.
As with the main body section once glued the cracks and chips were
colour filled and the piece was painted to an invisible repair,
again using Rustins China Glaze.
The lid piece was also cleaned and reglued with fynebond and colour
filled with Fynebond tinted with dry pigments to match.
